Whatever It Is!
We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your[a] faith; 7 if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; 8 if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead,[b] do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully. (Romans 12:6-8, NIV)
Our daughter sent a video of our granddaughter cheering at a football game. She was awesome and we enjoyed watching her perform her cheers with such exuberance. It reminded me of the days I was a Pom Pom girl in high school. Don’t laugh! Of course, I no longer have the boots, uniform or pom poms but I can still use my voice to cheer others on to victory. Even then I was an encourager.
Paul wrote whatever gift we have been given by the Holy Spirit to use it and when we do the Lord will increase it even more. He said if it’s teaching then we should teach, if serving then serve and if encouraging, encourage. It’s true, when we utilize our spiritual gifts God will add to them and enlarge us. When we use them, we also strengthen them and we are encouraged through their use more and more. God delights in using us and seeing us put those gifts to good use. He blesses us through their use, not for our personal glory or fame, but for his pleasure and glorification. Let’s Pray
Dear God, thank you for sharing the gifts of the holy Spirit with us and help us to use our gifts, whatever they are, however many we have, for the benefit of others and to your glory. Amen
