Fight Bravely for the Welfare of Others
Be courageous! Let us fight bravely for our people and the cities of God. (2 Samuel 10:12, NLT)
In 2 Samuel 10, there is an excellent example and story to make us pause and think about the strength God has given us to fight bravely for others. To be courageous and fight bravely for the oppressed, the downtrodden, for those whose voice has been silenced, their rights stripped away by those more powerful or influential.
Every day we see examples and learn stories of those whose lives have been altered in the worst way because of injustices and discriminations; even through natural disasters. Our Bible shows us we are to rise to the occasion and put up a fight to help them get their lives back together. In this way we get to show them, not only a loving and caring God, but a restoring and providing God. In each situation or circumstance God will show us what kind of help we are to be, exactly what the fight will entail: Maybe financial help by supporting a charity or standing with the marginalized or lifting our voice or taking a vote that will make a difference in the lives of others. However we see to be best for the time and circumstance, we can know God will not only support and undergird us, but as we put bravery to work on the behalf of others he will fill us with courage and because God is with us, fighting alongside us we are never too few in number or weak of spirit. Let’s Pray
Dear God, thank you for making us in your own image and that means when we need to we can show up for others and be those brave and courageous people needed for that time. Amen
