Trusting God

Man lays a snare, but whoever trusts in the LORD is safe. (Proverbs 29:25, ESV)

Being safe is one of our strongest needs in life. We need to feel safe environmentally, financially, circumstantially, occupationally, and relationally. Unfortunately, we learn through life experience not everyone is a safe place. Life experience and discernment teach us that we cannot trust everybody and over time we learn how to be smarter when it comes to placing our trust in others.

Solomon says that man (people) can lay a snare; do things to trip us up, mislead us, but God is fully trustworthy: God is truly our safe place. At a time when scams and schemes are stepping up their game and able to extract hundreds, even thousands of dollars from unsuspecting people our need to be smart about who we can trust is greater than ever. As God walks alongside us in this life through his own Holy and wise Spirit, he shows us things we need to know, imparts wisdom to us and gifts us with discernment. It is by the Spirit of God and listening and heeding we can be kept safe from the snares of the distrustful. Because God is leading and guiding us into all truth, shedding light on darkness, and exposing the evil deeds and intentions of the wicked we don’t need to live in fear or be afraid, we can simply trust the Lord’s counsel and know he puts us in a safe place. Let’s Pray,

So much wickedness and many evil schemes are laid by the wicked, Lord. We are sometimes afraid to answer a call, respond to an offer by mail, do something online, until we know for sure who its coming through and what it will entail. Thank you for your wisdom, Lord. Thank you for the companionship of your Holy Spirit. Thank you that although the wicked can lay a snare, you are always our safety. Amen
