What the Bible Says about the Might of God
The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love. (Zephaniah 3:17, ESV)
What a mighty God we serve! While this is most certainly true, we might also want to consider and meditate on what a mighty God who serves us!
It’s human nature to look at our need, zone in on our lack, consider our challenges, contemplate our mountains, mull over our problem or trouble, first. Human nature sees the bigness, heaviness, impossibilities of something, before considering the might or bigness of God. But when we first consider and meditate on the mightiness of our God our problem or need take on a different perspective and shrink in size, threat, or impossibility.
Many passages remind us that nothing is too big for God to accomplish, nothing too complicated for him to solve, nothing beyond his ability to fix or heal. He is mighty in works, mighty in love, mighty in forgiveness, mighty in power; a mighty force to be reckoned with and no force of evil, and certainly not of human might or intent can match his might.
The problems and troubles of this life can be complex. They can challenge us in more ways than one. They can discourage us and many times, cause us to feel crushed beneath their load and magnitude, but because God is not only with us, but has sent his Son, Jesus, to serve us, we do not have to bow beneath our heavy loads. It’s true, Jesus, Immanuel is with us, and we serve him, but he is also with us to serve us. What a mighty God we serve, what a mighty God who loves us, what a mighty God who serves us. Let’s Pray
Jesus, we love you and seek to serve you. You are truly a mighty God we serve, and we are humbled to learn that not only do we seek to serve you, but you seek to serve us. Amen
